Victron GX Replacement – 5 inch

The Victron GX panel on a larger 5-inch landscape screen: the Guition JC8048W550 (800 × 480, ESP32-S3), running ESPHome and LVGL. Live data from your Victron GX device and Home Assistant, laid out so the whole system fits on one screen.

Why replace the stock GX display?

Your system as it’s actually wired

Grid and AC loads on the AC-in side, the inverter/charger in the centre, critical loads and PV inverters on AC-out, battery and solar chargers on the DC side. The stock overview groups sources and loads without showing where they connect.

Now screen laid out by system topology

See AC solar feeding back

When your PV inverters produce more than your critical loads use, the line through the inverter/charger reverses and shows the power flowing back to the battery or grid.

Fronius producing 4.50 kW with 2.16 kW flowing back through the MultiPlus

Per-phase detail at a glance

Every card shows L1, L2 and L3 with a bar for each phase, grid phases are coloured by direction (import red, export green), and the critical-loads card shows phase imbalance.

Battery time to full or empty

Shown on the main screen next to charge state, SOC, power, voltage and current, with your minimum SOC marked on the battery bar.

Battery card showing 78%, +1.50 kW and Full ~14:10

Minimum SOC in one tap

Adjust the ESS minimum SOC from the battery card. The new value is shown next to the active one and is only written to your GX device when you press SET.

Solar yield per source

PV inverters and solar chargers each show live power and today’s kWh. Solar chargers also show their charge state and current into the battery. The stock overview shows live watts only.

Today’s totals on the main screen

A daily strip always shows solar, import, export and self-sufficiency.

PV inverter history

Fronius and other PV inverter production is recorded and included in daily totals, history charts and self-sufficiency. On the stock GX, PV inverter data is live only.

Charts instead of lists

Today by hour and the last 7 days side by side, combining every source, instead of a list of daily values read from the charger. Tap any bar for exact values.

A full daily energy balance

Energy in (solar, battery, grid) against energy out (home, battery, export, losses), with each item’s share. The stock display has no on-device equivalent.

Forecast on the wall

Today’s production against your forecast with an “expected by now” marker, plus the next two days compared with your 7-day average, all on one screen.

Bluetooth check of your solar chargers

SmartSolar MPPT readings taken directly over Bluetooth, side by side with what your GX device reports, so you can spot discrepancies.

Mount it anywhere

The panel connects over Wi-Fi, so it needs no cable to the GX device. Put one in the hallway, the kitchen or the technical room, or several.

Four screens

  • Now — the whole system on one screen: live power flow, per-phase values, battery, solar sources and today’s totals.
  • Today — self-sufficiency, home consumption, and energy in and energy out side by side with each source’s share.
  • History — today by hour and the last 7 days side by side, each with its own navigation and tap-to-read values.
  • Forecast — today’s production against your forecast, tomorrow, the day after and a short insight (needs a forecast provider in Home Assistant).

Details that matter

Made for the wider screen

A left navigation rail with the clock and connection status gives every screen the full height.

Fits your installation

Single-, split- or three-phase, any number of solar chargers and PV inverters (including none), with or without a battery. Phases and devices you don’t have are hidden.

Stale data is obvious

Values dim after 30 seconds without updates, per data source, so one dead feed never hides the others. Values show “---” before the first reading.

Now screen with dimmed values and an MQTT stale warning

Settings and diagnostics

Wi-Fi, Home Assistant, MQTT and Bluetooth relay status; brightness and scheduled night dimming; firmware info and hold-to-restart.

How it works

You buy the code, not the hardware. This is a digital download: the ESPHome source for the panel, built for your system. The Home Assistant integration it relies on is a free download.

Press Configure: our free Home Assistant integration discovers your Victron equipment on your own network. You upload its result and a few panel settings, review, then buy. Your kit appears in My Files once your order is confirmed. The display itself is not included — bring your own Guition JC8048W550 5-inch display.

You will need

  • A Guition JC8048W550 5-inch touch display
  • A Victron system with a GX device (such as a Cerbo GX) publishing MQTT to Home Assistant — see Connect Home Assistant MQTT to a Victron GX
  • Home Assistant with MQTT and Recorder, and our Clevr Victron integration (free, included in the configurator)
  • Optional: solar forecast sensors in kWh (e.g. Forecast.Solar or VRM)
  • Optional: a Bluetooth relay near your SmartSolar MPPT, for the direct Bluetooth readings
  • ESPHome, to compile and flash the panel yourself — the kit is source and configuration, not a compiled firmware
  • Wi-Fi and Home Assistant kept powered — in off-grid or backup setups, put your router and Home Assistant server on backed-up power
