Clevr DoorBell HV PCB
Making a traditional 230 V doorbell smart without replacing the chime
The HV version is designed for installations where the doorbell button switches Neutral to a conventional 230 V chime. The PCB safely detects a button press, reports it to the ESP32-C3, and adds two independent relay functions: remote ring and programmable mute.
The board is powered directly from 230 V AC through an isolated HLK-5M05 supply. The doorbell signal is sensed through a high-impedance 4 × 27 kΩ network, MB10S bridge rectifier and H11L1 optocoupler, keeping the ESP32 electrically isolated from the mains-side sensing circuit.
- K1 — Remote Ring: connects permanent Neutral to the switched-Neutral line, electronically reproducing a physical button press.
- K2 — Chime Mute: normally passes the switched Neutral to the chime; when activated, it disconnects the chime while the button press can still be detected.
- Protection: mains fuse + MOV, relay flyback diodes, and a 100 Ω + 100 nF X2 RC snubber across the chime.
- Local indication: LEDs show button detection and K1/K2 relay activity.
- Controller: Seeed XIAO ESP32-C3 provides Wi-Fi control, automation and integration with systems such as Home Assistant.
Normal operation remains fail-safe: with the controller or K2 relay unpowered, the physical doorbell continues to operate normally.
